3. Support for Action on Climate Change

3.1 Respondents in most areas say climate change should be a high priority for their government.

A majority of respondents in most surveyed areas (103 out of 110) say climate change should be either a “very high” or “high” priority for their own governments, led by Puerto Rico (92%) and El Salvador (90%). Respondents are least likely to say so in Yemen (18%) and Lithuania, the Czech Republic, and the Netherlands (19%).This world map shows the countries and territories where a majority of respondents think climate change should be a "very high" or "high" government priority. Majorities of respondents say that climate change should be either a “very high” or “high” priority for their governments in most areas within every region (see Appendix II). Moreover, majorities of respondents in most areas in North America (including countries in Central America and the Caribbean; 9 out of 15), and South America (6 out of 9) say that climate change should be a “very high” priority for their governments.
