These maps show the percentage of Indians and the difference from the national average in each state who say they have personally experienced the effects of global warming (84% nationally) and say they have personally experienced severe heat waves in the past 12 months (71% nationally). Colors on the difference maps show state-level variations in green and purple that reflect the percentage points above (green) and below (purple) the national average. More people in northern vs. southern India report having personally experienced the effects of global warming and severe heat waves. Data: India Climate Opinion Maps, 2026.
