Partnerships Team – Black Community Partnerships Assistant (hiring 1)

10 hrs per week (Spring 2022)

The Black Community Partnerships Assistant will support outreach and building external relationships with key constituencies, such as Black-led or -focused community organizations and environmental justice organizations, for the Yale Program on Climate Change Communication. In this role, the Black Community Partnerships Assistant will help conduct market research, develop outreach materials, and message experiment templates in support of the Partnerships program’s work. 

Key responsibilities:

  • Support the Partnerships strategy and outreach to key constituencies and diverse climate organizations, ranging from large institutions to small grassroots groups, with a focus on Black community organizations. 
  • Develop outreach and marketing materials for the Partnership program including case studies, presentations, and key messages. 
  • Supporting partner organizations to run digital and field experiments. 
  • Test and deploy new tools for partner organizations. 
  • Support tracking our success through the Salesforce Constituent Relationship Management system and case studies.
  • Further develop materials for consulting and training in climate communication strategy, tactics, and tools to improve the communication and engagement capacity of partner organizations and the broader climate change community. 
  • With the YPCCC research team, help assess the utility of new YPCCC research products, tools and data. 

Desired knowledge and experience:

  • Landscape view of Black-led or focused advocacy and community organizations. 
  • Experience in issue or political campaigns, including field and/or digital campaigns. 
  • Experience working with diverse communities. 
  • Experience with online message testing using social media platforms such as Facebook. 
  • Passion for building a more effective and equitable climate change community.  

Required skills and abilities:

  • Ability to set priorities and multi-task; 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication; 
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse partners; 
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a team, as well as on one’s own; 
  • Ability to work from a remote office, with Google Docs, Office 365, Salesforce, and join Zoom calls. 


Digital Team: Social media producer (hiring 1)

3-5 hrs a week (Spring 2022)

The folks that make our Facebook and Twitter what it is. YPCCC research is relevant to many categories of current events, from renewable energy to extreme weather, and our social media producers help put the news of the day in context.


  • Drafting 2-5 FB posts and tweets per assigned day for YPCCC online properties
  • Creating graphics using Canva
  • Responding to breaking news and keeping an eye on the latest climate change stories

Preferred Skills:

  • Attention to detail and strong writing skills
  • Experience managing a Facebook page or professional Twitter account is a plus
  • Awareness of best practices and trends in social media content
  • Digital design and data visualization / infographic creation experience

Ideal for somebody with less time on their hands who still wants to contribute to the YPCCC program. Those who are plugged into the news on climate change and eager to help show how our work relates. Digital novices who want to learn by doing.
