Public opposition to new data centers is bipartisan and strong. How is public opinion shaping decisions about data center development? On September 3, 2026, we hosted a discussion on Americans’ views on data centers and lessons from data center legislation recently passed in New Jersey. Dr. Anthony Leiserowitz, Director of the Yale Program on Climate Change Communication moderated a conversation with Neha Gour, Researcher at George Mason University’s Center for Climate Change Communication and Kristin Eberhard, VP of Policy at Rewiring America.
