Yale Program on Climate Change Communication

Jono Anzalone is the Managing Director of the Yale Program on Climate Change Communication at the Yale School of the Environment. He brings more than two decades of leadership experience spanning humanitarian response, climate communication, higher education, and international development. Prior to joining Yale, Jono served as the Chair of the Elmina B. Sewall Foundation, supporting philanthropy and community-centered social and environmental change initiatives across Maine and the Wabanaki Nations.  He also served as the founding Executive Director of The Climate Initiative, where he helped advance youth-led climate action and public engagement efforts globally. He previously held senior leadership positions with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and the American Red Cross, leading disaster preparedness, response, and recovery initiatives globally. In addition to his applied leadership experience, Jono has served as a professor of economics and social and behavioral sciences. He has worked in more than 30 countries and brings a multidisciplinary approach to climate communication, systems change, and community resilience. Jono holds a BA in Political Science from Creighton University, an MS in Economics from the University of Nebraska Omaha, and a doctorate in Educational Leadership and Higher Education from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln.
